| Born and raised in West Palm Beach,
Florida, Gina came to upstate New York in 1988 having met her future
husband on a plane and literally landed in Albany. After a year of odd
jobs: waitressing, selling advertising for guest services directories,
flagging on construction sites, substitute teaching, she landed a job
with The Pyramid Companies in Plattsburgh, NY and spent the first
winter of her life battling the cold and snow of the Lake Champlain
region. As the Director of Sales of the Albany County Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACCVB),
Gina is the information resource for meeting and event planners and
other community folks regarding the hospitality and tourism industry
within Albany County, New York, New York's Capital Region and beyond.
Gina is considered a very good networker within the industry and the
Capital Region community, with a very positive reputation as a
motivated, enthusiastic and resourceful professional woman. She
directs a sales and services staff of 4 working with all the Albany
County hotels and the entire hospitality community to bring meeting and
convention business to Albany. She is involved in a variety of
organizations within the industry including the Empire State Society of
Association Executives (ESSAE) and Meeting Professionals International (MPI NENY) as well as the Albany-Colonie Chamber of Commerce and the Arts Center of the Capital Region among others.
Prior to joining the ACCVB, Gina worked for The Pyramid Companies for nine years marketing six different shopping centers throughout New York and Massachusetts including Crossgates Mall in Albany, Carousel Center in Syracuse and Palisades Center
in West Nyack. While she worked in the "same circus, different tent",
each mall presented different marketing challenges, either within the
mall itself with merchants, staff, Standard Operating Procedures or
outside of the mall - the reputation within the community. Whatever
the challenges, they were hers to embrace and overcome for the goal of
increased sales.
